Clay earned his Ph.D. in drama and theatre studies and has two Master’s degrees and for the past decade has researched improvisation and its applications. Clay’s research explores improvisation's effects on consciousness and cognition while comparing these theories to current findings in cognitive neuroscience, psychology, and philosophy. Dr. Caitlyn Collins is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at Washington University in St. Louis. Her research examines social inequality and gender inequality in the workplace and in family life.
Dr. Collins conducted an interview study of 135 working mothers in Sweden, Germany, Italy, and the United States. These four countries offer distinct policy approaches to reconciling work-family conflict. She examined how different ideals of gender, motherhood, and employment are embedded in these policies, and how they shape the daily lives of working mothers in these countries.
Dr. Collins is the author of the book based on this research called Making Motherhood Work: How Women Manage Careers and Caregiving.
